Best of the Fest Awards Ceremony and IFF Wrap Party follow a screening of some of this year’s award winning films. This is the place to be, to be seen and to be entertained. A gala evening of food, drink, film and fun!

Starring these stellar films from the 2009 IFF…

The State of Sunshine
The story of Danny and Lily, a pair of siblings, illegal immigrants from China to the Florida Panhandle, who must turn to prostitution in order to repay their smugglers. Silver Medal, Student Academy Awards.
What we liked: A poignant story told with a solid sense of artistry. Best Student Short Film 

The Wall
Bernard, a New York City Cellist, struggling under years of unbearable guilt, finds little solace in the world, save for his music. As his fate hangs in the balance, a woman moves next door who not only shares his passion for music but is herself no stranger to tragedy.
What we liked: Great music, performances, and story. Best Student Mini Film
Rhapsody
A modern and colorful Romeo and Juliette from one of our favorite USF filmmakers.
What we liked: Inventive storytelling, joyous ending. Florida Choice Award
The Monster Under my Bed
Todd Thompson, Celebration, FL
Here’s a tale of little Samantha and the monster under her bed. 
What we liked: Story set up is just perfect.  Florida Choice Award
Relationship Card
A young couple tries to work out their conflicts using the new relationship card. Is there an “app” for that?
What we liked: Flawless execution of a story that’s so true, so true!...  Best Independent Mini Film

Dim Sum
Delightful animation proves ancient Chinese proverb: “the customer is always right.”
What we liked: Fun mix of camera shots, angles and a cute story that avoids the obvious.  Best Student Animation

This Man’s Life
A magical tale about a man who, while on the way to claim his father’s inheritance, meets a peculiar stranger who seems to know everything about him. Stars Michael Rooker (Days of Thunder, JFK), Bill Cobbs (Night at the  Museum, That Thing You Do!) and Betsy Brantley (The Princess Bride, Deep Impact).  
What we liked: Classy in every way! Best Independent Short Film

Cadillac ’59
A great car can get you out of a lot of jams – and into some others.
What we liked: Nice camera work and pacing. Nice caddie!
