Radiance: the Experience of Light
Dorothy Fadiman’s stunning film combines poetry, music
and compelling visual images to document the story of light as a universal symbol, connecting visions and values of people from different cultures.

Once Not Far From Home
Todd Thompson continues his examination of true love in this exquisite short film that explores a deep but unspoken love that endures for decades. Gorgeous old Florida scenery, captured to perfection.

And these films from the 2009 IFF…

The Wall
True to the spirit of the evening, The Wall passionately expresses the power of art to bridge boundaries and heal wounds.  Best Student Mini Film.
What we liked: Great music, great performances, great story.

Nuri
Animated tale of how the stars came to be hung in the sky.
What we liked: Sweet, happy little story.

inside every moment is another moment
This experimental film simultaneously expresses the past, present and future of one day in a man’s life, seen across three screens. Thoughts, memories and alternate realities appear on additional screens, and relationships discovered in the interconnections among them offer impetus for reflection, and, perhaps, redirection in our lives. Best Experimental Film.
What we liked: The challenge of seeing everyday life in a different way.

Deer Hill Road
With scenery reminiscent of an Andrew Wyeth painting, this atmospheric short film relates a moment of thaw found in the cold barren landscape of two opposing lives.
What we liked: How well the imagery supports the story.

El Salon Mexico
A delightful fantasy, created with painstaking attention to detail and set to the wonderful music of Aaron Copland.  Best Independent Animation.
What we liked: Wonderful sense of design, and… the music!

Relevé
A man yearns for beauty in his life and finds a way to recreate it. Best Student Foreign Film.
What we liked: Wonderful animated sequence breathing life into the character.

Night Light
A stroll down a NYC street becomes a funky light show set to the beat of a retro funk instrumental.
What we liked: Dancing out the door to this fun experimental film.
