The Education Channel’s Independents’ Film Festival (IFF) is unlike any other film festival in its history, scope, and reach. In addition to the traditional theatrical screening of films to the community, all “official selections” of the fest are televised on The Education Channel for an entire month, with a web simulcast. An annual event since 1993, the IFF is one of the longest running established film festivals in Florida, its success built upon dedication to the audience and the filmmaker. By presenting the annual “Showcase of Films” on The Education Channel, the web, and through selected film screenings in the community, we aim to: · Support the Independent Filmmaker by providing an Audience · Introduce a new Audience to Independent Cinema · Educate the Audience on the Art of Filmmaking · Encourage Young Filmmakers to Pursue their Goals · Offer Networking and Educational Opportunities to the Tampa Bay Film Community The Junior Independents’ Film Festival (JIFF) showcases students in K-12th grade, exhibiting films made by the next generation of filmmakers. The JIFF screens in a free theatrical setting, as well, and boasts a proud roster of young adult filmmakers who got their start in the JIFF. IFF theatrical screenings start in November and events are added throughout the year, so check back often for updates.
